Prior to his election as State Senator in November 2014, Vinny deMacedo served the residents of Plymouth as State Representative (1st Plymouth District) for 16 years. During his time on Beacon Hill as Senator and Representative, he has been an effective advocate for his constituents. Vinny understands that leadership is achieved through a commitment to working together with his colleagues – regardless of party affiliation – to achieve the best possible outcome. He believes in the power of building relationships and coalitions which has been the key to his political and legislative success. He was elected President of the Massachusetts Legislators Association by his fellow legislators of both parties which indicates the high regard with which he is viewed by his colleagues.
He brings this independent perspective to the State Senate. Vinny is guided by the belief that his job is to listen and represent the perspective of all the voters in his district.
In keeping with his own political philosophy, Vinny has been a consistent voice on behalf of making government more efficient and responsive so that it can better serve our residents and communities. He has also been a strong advocate on behalf of fiscal responsibility and economic development. Always looking out for the best interest of the state’s taxpayers, Vinny has stood against numerous tax increase proposals, including last year’s technology tax - which has since been repealed. He continues to work to promote an economic climate in which businesses can grow, thrive, and create jobs.
As State Representative, Vinny deMacedo was recognized for his leadership by a wide variety of advocacy organizations. He has been awarded the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) Guardian of Small Business award. Vinny has also been honored as Legislator of the Year by the Massachusetts Town Clerks Association, Jewish Community Relations Council, and Council of Human Service Providers.
