October 25th, 2005 - Taxpayers may not have to pay the $275,0000 cost of designing a new senior center for Plymouth and a new traffic light on Route 44 thanks to state representatives Vinny deMacedo, R-Plymouth, and Tom O'Brien, D-Kingston.
Otis fight headed to court
Aug. 27th, 2005 PLYMOUTH - The federal government's Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) Commission voted to close Otis Air National Guard Base Friday. But gov. Mitt Romney will likely file a lawsuit challenging the closure, according to state representative Vinny deMacedo. "I just got off the phone with the governor's assistant chief of staff Peter Flaherty and I feel very confident the governor is going to take every step and legal action he can to save the base," deMacedo, R-Plymouth, said late Friday afternoon.

House Passes Medicaid Waiver for Autism Services
Date: July 25, 2005 PLYMOUTH - State Representatives Thomas J. O’Brien (D-Kingston) and Viriato M. deMacedo (R-Plymouth) announced today that The Massachusetts House of Representatives passed House Bill 4177- An Act to Maximize Federal Reimbursement for Special Education Services for Children with Autism. House Bill 4177 must now be engrossed in the Senate.

Murray, deMacedo, O’Brien Announce Nicole’s Law Clears Committee Hurdle, Moves Closer to Passage
June 24, 2005 (Boston, MA) - Senator Therese Murray (D-Plymouth), Chairwoman of the Senate Committee on Ways and Means, Representatives Vinny deMacedo (R-Plymouth) and Tom O’Brien (D-Kingston) announced today the Legislature’s Joint Committee on Public Safety and Homeland Security has given approval Nicole’s Law. The legislation, named after 8 year-old Nicole Garafalo of Plymouth whose life was taken by carbon monoxide build-up in her family’s home, would require that every residence in Massachusetts install a carbon monoxide detector. The bill will now be referred to the Senate Committee on Ways and Means.

Murray, deMacedo, O’Brien Announce $500,000 Grant Awarded to Plymouth to Protect Undeveloped Land
(Boston, MA) Funding is Part of 1997 Plymouth “Challenge Grant” - Senator Therese Murray (D-Plymouth), Chairwoman of the Senate Committee on Ways and Means, Representatives Vinny deMacedo (R-Plymouth) and Tom O’Brien (D-Kingston), announced today that the town of Plymouth has been awarded a $500,000 grant from the Executive Office of Environmental Affairs (EOEA). The grant, part of the Plymouth “challenge grant”, is the first installment of the funds which will be used to purchase a 188- acre parcel of land that is a habitat for several rare species. The remaining $1.7 million would be paid to Plymouth by EOEA in equal payments of $700,000 in fiscal years 2006 and 2007.
